Mission Statement

The Arizona Prevention Resource Center (APRC) is a catalyst to promote effective prevention* through the use of evidence based practices that improve social outcomes by providing dynamic training, planning and evaluation services.

*Prevention means the proactive process of creating and sustaining conditions that address risk and promote the safety, personal responsibility and well being of people. For APRC those issues include: wellness; health promotion; parenting; youth development; community and school capacity to engage in prevention; family; systems; crime; school dropouts; illiteracy; failing schools; injury; disease; alcoholism; drugs; tobacco; poverty; job loss; teen pregnancy.

To actualize this mission, the Arizona Prevention Resource Center helps Arizona's communities develop, implement, document and evaluate comprehensive prevention programs. Through active collaboration with a wide range of organizations and community members in planning, development of services, training, and technical assistance, the APRC provides leadership for utilization of successful strategies and programs within and outside of Arizona. Through these efforts, the Arizona Prevention Resource Center seeks to increase the availability, accessibility, appropriateness and effectiveness of prevention programs, services and systems for all Arizonans.
